Summertime!
Picture
Picture
There is no shortage of inspiration in nature! And Summer makes me think of beautiful lakes, the green canopy of the forest and amazing sunsets. The bracelet and earrings here remind me of the blue-greens that we see in our lakes and oceans. The beads are hand-made, etched and then strung on copper wire. The necklace above reminds me of a sunset as it fades from shades of pink to deep purple. The beads are hand made, etched, then strung on silver-plate wire with Swarovski crystals. It is finished with silver-plated chain and clasp.

This pendent of course reminds me of the bark on Birch trees. It is hand blown and then pressed. The bail is silver-plated and it is strung on an 18" silver-plate ball chain.

I love the combination of copper and greens. Perhaps it's because a lot of the green glass actually contains copper.
In this bracelet, a mix of transparent and opaque green/teal glass is accented by the copper beads. The beads are strung on copper wire, with copper chain and clasp.

Here are just a few of my hand-blown glass beads that I've used to make earrings. All have Swarovski crystals and silver-plate wire or chain and ear wires. If you see something here that you might be interested in, or would like to have something similar made, please contact me - I would love to make something just for you.

Fall 2018

I love the Fall! The beautiful colours, the warmth of a fireplace, the swishing sound of walking through piles of leaves, and the cozy feeling of being bundled up on a cool, crisp Autumn day. But, definitely the changing colours of the leaves are one of the highlights of the year for me. And, of course, I find that the Fall colour palette is what I'm turning to when I am sitting at my torch.

I  like the look of glass and leather together. And it gives me an opportunity to play with different colours that can provide an accent or contrast to the colours that I use in the glass. Here the soft yellow and brown leather cord provides a warm accent to the colours that I used in this leaf pendent.

The fall is of course a busy time as well, because it means preparing for various Craft Markets and Art Shows. The fall of 2018 was my first venture into doing these and I really enjoyed it! It was a chance to get out and chat with people at the shows and talk about my passion for glass. I was especially lucky because my husband, Jeff is a great partner in this adventure.

Winter 2018/2019

Winter makes me think of white snow, reds for the holiday season and more neutral tones. In the middle photo of the third row, I've used a mix of ebony ivory glass with a bit of red through it. These are then tumbled to a stone-like finish and gives the beads an almost satin softness. I've added solid red beads and silver findings to complete the bracelet. In the bottom left photo, this choker necklace is made of a barrel shaped bead, that I tumbled and then strung on thick black rubber cord. I like the feel of the rubber with the glass. It's soft on the skin, is strong, but not heavy. The middle bottom photo is a necklace made of hollow, blown beads, using a transparent base with silver glass on top which gives the glass an iridescent look. They are strung simply on silver snake chain, with Swarovski crystals.

This bracelet combines square and bi-cone Swarovski crystals with larger round glass beads made of silver glass on black, and smaller metallic black glass beads. Inspired by the crystal dark water that we see, before it freezes over!
